Why the Duck Race?
During the pandemic most animal shelters and NGO’s have been struggling financially to keep stray animals healthy and cared for, but over the past three years CHAIN Boland has been gifted with over thirty-five thousand rand (R35 000) from funds raised through the Day Of The Duck Race which the event hopes to increase to over R50 000 in 2022.
Held on the Saturday afternoon, all the adopted ducks race down the “Boontjies” river. The owner of the winning duck in the Main Race will receive R5000 in prize money. In addition to the main race, there are a few more categories; namely the Veterans, Kiddies and the Corporate R10 000 Classic race. Each duck can be personalised at the decoration station and participants are encouraged to get creative.
